Nepal’s Development Needs

According to the Sustainable Development Report 2021, Nepal is ranked 96 out of 165 globally with an index of 66.5 (the regional average score is 65.7) for progress towards the SDGs. Nepal scores comparatively well on environmental sustainability (where it is judged in fact to have fully met its Sustainable Development Goals) but is still a poor performer regionally for people and prosperity metrics.

Many of Nepal’s development needs can be addressed through sustainable economic growth as a result of good quality, gender-balanced job creation. Employment in high value-add roles in growing sectors will make a very significant contribution to this development.

Dolma believes that there is a profound role for private equity in delivering such employment opportunities by investing institutional capital to catalyse sustainable and impactful growth in full compliance with international standards and best practice.
